Any good new/used camera shops in the Bay?
Hi. Anyone here know of any good camera shops here in the bay area? I was just handed down an old Nikon FM 35mm slr body and am looking for a 50mm/f1.8 prime lens to fit it.

I don't know much about photography myself, but I have heard good things about Keeble and Schucat in Palo Alto. They have two stores: a pro store, and a consumer store. I don't know how good they are w.r.t. cost, but being in Palo Alto, they are probably on the more expensive side.

Keeble and Schucat is the biggest store on the peninsula and the do sell used equipment. These guys are pricey, but you can make them an offer and they will come down. Adolph Gasser is a big store in San Francisco that. I'm sure there must be some in the East Bay but I don't know any off hand. B&H also sells new/used equipment on the web (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/), I've bought a bunch of stuff from them and never had any problems.

eBay, eBay, eBay, eBay! I built up a full Nikon set...FM2N and five Nikkor lenses and Nikon accessories. Purchased everything over a period of three months, piece by piece two years ago. Mostly sniping the deal and being careful. Dealt only w/good feedback dealers and never got burnt. Everything I purchased was like new or unused. Pro photographers and amateurs are dumping the film gear. I figured out what I paid on eBay worked out at 32 cents on the dollar. Here's the definitive site on Nikon film gear, pick out what you want and go get it!
