yeah i watched them do it once on their justinTV channel...they were like

so yeah they are careful and stuff
my original cars owner cut the rear with a sawzall...sounds kinda rigged but better than a baseball bat, and wont screw up your paint.
i might cut my fronts too. Just seems like its a lot safer way to do it

Look, if you're going to do it the cheap way, why not simply get some take-offs from another Impreza? You can typically find them pretty cheap, and they'll work for you until you can find something better.

$100 springs. Brand new. Shocks are another $400 or so. Maybe less. Still about half a grand, but it would actually fix your problem rather than working your way around it.
