Depends on if you are smart enough to count shipping cost (from your online source) into the overall price when you do your price comparisons. It's amazing what the little extra you pay from a local source will get you from dealing face-to-face with the dealer.
BTW, the answer is yes, Stevens Creek (IIRC) has an i-club discount available. Probably not going to match online pricing, but will give you a % off.

Consider shipping costs vs tax, and you are back to the actual price of the item. That is unless you are buying enough to make the tax is substantially more than the $10-$20 you will pay in shipping for anything reasonably sized.

If I'm in the area, I try to stop by Steven's Creek, they have an iclub discount. However, it can be a drive, so I've done a lot of business with Jackie at Annapolis Subaru and she gives nabisco discounts, and their prices are really good even with the shipping included, if you want to wait for it to ship too.

If they don't have it in stock, they'll get it within a day or two.
but ya, Pomona -> SJ = long drive and would cost more in gas than you saved.

I went to Stevens Creek Subaru for random parts if I'm in a hurry. I get a discount when I give them my handle name from I-Club (I spoke with DemonPossessed last time!). Which is reasonable as long as 880 traffic is alright. They're good about contacting you if your part has arrived if it's backordered. Otherwise, SubaruGenuineParts.com (Annapolis Subaru) is pretty cool. I've purchased a case of oil filters and random parts before, they're quick, and respond to questions pretty fast.

you have an ac belt tensioner (think it's teh ac belt the wheel on the bolt that can snap if you tighten it too much?) I could do a trip to novato and stop in pt. reyes on the way.
