Another Ticket Story

Long read :O

So basically I decided to drive down friday night to LA from San Jose for Toyotafest. And I just happened to get pulled over once I happen to enter LA. I have a Radar detector (Beltronics Pro Series RX65 Red) and it did not go off. But all of a sudden I see this car behind me turn on all his lights and i pull over to a gas station near. After that i roll down my window I turn my car off and put the keys on the dash. He then hits my back window with his flash light telling me to roll down all my windows. So he tells me "Do I really have to ask you why I pulled you over?" And goes on saying that I did 95+, Which did not do I was speeding but at 80 most in LA night traffic. After looking at my car they ask if my front windows are tinted. So they make me roll my windows up and I get marked for that. The police's partner then says "What happened the radar detector didn't work? You got a cheap old one." and I did not feel like I needed to comment on that. So basically after all that nonsense of talking they write me up for the whole 95mph and the tinted front windows.

Heres my question:
Am I able to fight the ticket because they did not write down anything on how they caught me. "radar unit/ patrol vehicle no."

Thanks for reading :O

Just do it by mail. They send you everything you need to do it that way. However, if you fight it in court you will have to go there since the cop isn't going drive all the way here. You can do trial by written declaration without having to go down there and if that fails or you decide to just pay it you can just do traffic school if that is an option by mailing in the fees for that and the rest of the ticket. Sometimes you cant do traffic school if you lose a written declaration contest.

ahh the joys of WRX/STi ownership. I got pulled for tailgaiting, the cop was just waiting, I avoided an accident by moving up in traffic, but I guess I was tailing for about 2 seconds. so...

Fight it, trail by declaration, cant hurt.

that makes me sad... =[ i hope my v1 loves me enough to beep. usually i do tend to see the cop cars before my v1 tells me to.

East Bay STI is right, I think 15 over is the limit for traffic school on the freeway.

I thought there was a box to check on how they clocked you, either radar or pacing? I could be wrong though.

Hope you get out of this one or at least get it reduced.

Good luck!

Best thing to do is fight it. What you should have done is asked them if they clocked you with the radar. Surely if they caught you at 95, they would have it on the gun... I think...
