Another n00b thread from w0ng3r
So I recently made a road trip to socal and back. I checked all my fluids before driving down and there were all good. The oil was maybe 1cm off from "full".
I didn't bother checking fluids prior to driving back up.
Drove down to the ferry building last night to see some fireworks (was niiiice), but then my car started to run like poopoo. It was hesitating and stuttering, sounded like it was about to stall at idle a few times.
I drove home slowly and checked the oil, it was barely above the low line level. I topped it off and it seems to be running fine now.
Is it normal to burn that much oil? And even though it's running fine now, is there anything I should be checking in such a scenario?
TLDR: ~1500 miles of driving, oil went from almost full to low and was driving like ****. is this normal for oil consumption?

you asked twice in your original post if it was normal.
you said a few times that you checked fluid levels over and over
did you.......maybe.......check for leaks??????????? cause you didn't say anything about actually checking for LEAKING oil under the car

well...don't know
last fall me and my buddies made a trip to Subiefest and back (LA area)...1000 miles. My 2005 WRX with 120K miles burnts 0.25 quart, my friend's 2007 STI with 60K miles burnt almost 1 quart.
Check your gasket....that goes between steering wheel and a passenger side seat. That should fix the problem.

LOL oil isn't optional dude. Why would you leave on a long trip knowing that you are at anything BUT full oil level? The "low" level mark on the dip stick isn't a target, its the end of the line. You cross that line, and you risk literally blowing up your motor. A properly operating motor does not consume oil.

First off, Jeff isnt a troll. Hes one of the Old Schoolers here and knows alot more about Subys than 90% of the people here. I know you're probably a bit frustrated but learn to take a joke okay?
That said, Im assuming you mean 1CM low on your oil dipstick? Well you should def check for a leak but even if you had a leak, that in of itself shouldn't have an effect on your performance. As long as you still have adequate oil pressure (oil light not on) being down a bit shouldn't have a noticeable change in performance.
did your oil light come on at any time??

Uhm be concerned with how it started. That's not a good sign.
I burned 1qt a change(3000 miles/2 months) on my last car given I don't also don't drive like a granny most of the time. A lot of blow by. When you checked the oil did you check it with the same temps? Like after running the car or..... at cold both times?
But as Rescuer said. Blinkerfluid or your tint glue may be off a bit.

I don't' really know much about cars, but the common sense of asking if burning THAT much oil in 1,500 miles and not checking for a leak or reading the owners manual to see if that is normal...... then why are you asking if it's normal? lol

and it even says it in the owners manual too.... which i bet he didn't bother reading
The engine oil consumption rate is
not stabilized, and therefore cannot be
determined until the vehicle has traveled
at least several thousand miles
(kilometers). Even after break-in, when
the vehicle is used under severe driving
conditions such as those mentioned
in the Warranty and Maintenance

or deteriorated more quickly than under
normal driving conditions. If you
drive your vehicle under these severe
conditions, you should check the oil
level at least at every second fuel fill-up
time, and change the oil more frequently.
Please refer to the Warranty

. If the oil consumption rate seems
abnormally high after the break-in
period, for example more than 1 quart
per 1,200 miles (1 liter per 2,000 kilometers),
contact your SUBARU dealer.
