another game question.. bruce lee, hope u can help on this topic
so, as stated before, i'm doing a paper answering the question of is video game art. I've just started to focus on Hitman, but i don't know much about the back ground story and i was wondering if you guys can shine some light on it for me. is Mr.47 a good guy? is he working for a good cause? company? what are some of the symbolism used in it? (i hear white is a biggie). anything with an artistic aspect will help a lot. THANKS!

I sure hope video games are art...otherwise my $70K education is going down the drain. Its true that computers have made it possible for anyone to be an "artist" in the past 10 years...But their stuff will still show its crapiness.
Video games have flaws...anything that can have flaws or can be critiqued is an art IMO
If somone can say they can make that look better, or even DO better its an art.
So yes video games are an art...not to mention they use colors and a ton of creative input in 3D modeling, Textures, Audio...even Programmers can say programming is an art...i dont get off looking at 010111000100000101010011010 but i know some people do

yeah. what is art is a very grey area... and thats one of the tings i'll have to define and explain in my paper.
funny tho, i keep saying most Dada art isn't art but my profs all just say i'm wrong... and its art because tons of art books say it is. i then tell them to give me a solid definition of art and that shuts them up. hell i can stick nails on an iron and give it some BS explanation and call it art.

turning a urinal on its back to make it look like Mother Mary is art because no one else did it, and i can appreciate that piece, its creative.
and sticking nails on an iron like you said is art, more of expression or symbolism...as long as you have a message to get across.
also the materials or medium used is very important...what those nails are made of, where the iron came from.
just like powder or cocaine? red paint or blood? one female artist used her you know what blood on a piece i remember...pretty intense huh.
