Another CHP enforcement day on I-80, Sierra foothills
http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/t...10656163c.html
"The California Highway Patrol will deploy extra officers Tuesday on Interstate 80 from Roseville to the Nevada state line in another "zero tolerance day" against speeding motorists.
The effort, performed at least monthly since October by the CHP's Auburn office, is designed to persuade drivers to reduce their speed. The number of speeding citations issued on no-tolerance days increases significantly, the CHP has noted.
Officers will saturate the I-80 corridor from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., said CHP Capt. Rick Ward of the Auburn office. In addition to Auburn, CHP offices in Gold Run and Truckee will participate in Tuesday's program.
"No one's getting the day off in our office," Ward said.
Ward said CHP personnel also will focus on trucks, watching for speed and for potential safety violations on brakes, lights and other equipment.
A larger zero tolerance day is planned July 2, Ward said. The effort will involve the I-80 corridor from the Bay Area to Nevada."
