Another BAM thread...

...since people seem to be (in the BAM date thread) commenting about how much they want to have Treasure Island be the site of BAM XI, I need to know if people are willing to commit to this.

Here's the poll.

Well, according to the people who have been posting in the other thread, it can handle 400 cars worth of parking. I figure if the whinemakers stay home, then we should have enough parking space.

I think I'll be more concerned when the new Bay Bridge opens...

If you want to be taken seriously, as a leader of an event, you really shouldn't be calling people "whinemakers" just because they choose to bring their own food. Each person has their own reason for bringing their own things.

I always bring my own drinks and small food items wherever I go the past few years due to a chronic problem i suffer from. And because of me bringing my own items, I get listed as a "whinemaker" ?

That's not really cool at all. People should feel free to participate in the food or not. It's their own individual choice. Please respect whatever reason they choose.

If you alienate people, they may not come.

Thanks

You're only allowed to come if you take off that orange jacket that is attached to your body....it does come off...right?

my orange rain jacket that i wear when it's raining? I hardly see how that remotely goes with this thread.

not sure why anybody would have a problem with somebody wearing a rain jacket in the rain.

If you bring your own food you should still pay.
Think of it as a corkage fee.

BTW...I'm in favor of $20/person.

Greg, if you serve up the top notch cooking...the dogs, the burgers..the chicken..etc..that you've produced for the last few BAMS then $10 is a steal and anybody who doesn't think that's good value needs to stay at home and eat raman.

IMO the fare the cooks have been turning out at the last few BAMS is mindblowing for the price of entry.

For $20 it should be catered. Our guy can do tri-tip and skirt steak and stuff like that with all the fixing for $12 a head. For hot dogs and burgers $10 is good. Especially if we have to pay $10 for parking again. That was shady for the park to do that by the way.

Perhaps you don't remember the lessons learned from BAM VIII.

When it was suggested that the price be more than $5 per person, there was an entire crowd that didn't want to pay, were insisting that there was no value (worth paying for) if they didn't eat the food, and evidently don't believe in contributing to the overall cost of putting on the event. I'm not really concerned about those (few) who have dietary restrictions and NEED to bring their own food...they're TYPICALLY not the "whinemakers", and are willing to pay to enjoy the event.

I'd bump some of the threads which I'm referring to if I had the time/interest in showing you what I'm talking about.

For the most part, I'm seeing a rather positive response, which will allow me to move forward in bringing a high-quality event to the Subaru community, with people willing to share the higher costs of producing said event.
