and it'd be different if they just said friend due to the fact that yes...when other races are refering to messicans in a derogatory sense, but don't want to seem too shallow, they call them amigo.

Logical reasoning for why calling people of hispanic origin 'amigo' is racist in this context:
1)Refering to everyone of one ethnic group by a name that is not the name they choose to call themselves shows that you are grouping them together based on race.
2)In some context, grouping people based on race is not racist; however in this case (asking for applicants for an 'equall opp job') grouping people based on race is racist (even if the sign said "hispanicAmericans wanted" it would be racist because of the nature of the job and the reason the employer wants to hire a hispanic person).
I see your point (NZO) about people being overly sensitive to racism, but in this case I think posting "Amigos Wanted" on the front of a tapioca express is unprofessional BECAUSE it implicates racism.
