I've always wanted to see a Supercharged SR20VE into any Datsun.
Well, what I really want to see is an RB30DE non-turbo'd with a triple carb set-up in a 240z. But it won't happen untill I get a big enough workspace to start working on it....

Well, engine width and mounting would be the only real problems.
A VQ30DETT is 710mm long, 775mm wide and 695mm high (supposedlly) while an EJ20 is well, I can't find how wide it is.
But if you can mount it, the rest is easy. Welded center diff gets rear wheel drive. And Subaru rearend's are common in 510's anyway.

Hmm, some talk has come up of maybe a an f20c out of an s2000. I think the datsun guys would kill me, but just looking at the pictures, it looks like a pretty compact little engine. Anyone here have experience with one of those?

4age 20v, or a 4agze from an AE101. Rotary power would be cool but the torque from an sr20det is why everyone loves them. Either way you don't have to worry about smog, you can do whatever you want really.

Well, an s2000 engine has been seen inside a AE86 before, so it can't be that big.
Since you need to custom design for pretty much any engine anyway, it shouldn't be anyharder than any other engine choice.
