Almost got into an accident on hwy17...
I was following a riced out Civic northbound on 17 (he has his nice big 17's chrome of course on the front and stock steelies on the back) i am about 2-3 car lengths behind him... we are doing about 60-65 we just passed summit and we are hitting those 40mph right handers, the car in front of the civic moves into the #2 lane and the civic speeds up (trying to lose me as i could see him glancing at me in his rearview for several miles) he is going about 70 by now as he hits a dip in one of the right hand turns, his back end comes flying out and he shoots over into the #2 lane in front of an accord... the accord nails him as i slam on my brakes (god i love anti-lock brakes) he bounces off the accord and the outside retaining wall and comes rolling back into my lane, i pass in between him and the inside wall with inches in between us just barely making it... i pull off the road at the next turn off a few hundred feet down the road. i am sitting in my car a little shaky as i look into my rearview mirror i see the civic coming down the road...
im like WTF!! and i look back and sure enough its him... he passes me and i write down his license plate # (unfortunatly i missed 1 #).. i then call 911 and report everything that has happened, i then go up teh road to chekc on the guy in the accord, he's ok.. the cops come and they take my statment and i leave...
god am i lucky!!!
i sure do hope they catch the little punk in the civic...
a diagram.. that may or may not help...

Wow, glad to see that your driving skills kept you from getting hurt, and that you got his liscense # down.
It's good to see that you stopped to make sure that the other driver was alright, instead of playing hero and chasing reckelssly after the honda, you should post his lisence # just incase any of us see him on the road .
And i'm sorry but i found your diagram to be funny for some reasons, prbably cause of the honda picture, hope that doesn't make me a bad person!

i find my diagram somewhat funny too... it reminds me of the GTi VS Honduh flash animation...
If you see a smashed up silver hondah civic... missing bumper big chrome rims on front steelies on back... hard to miss, thats the guy...

Your diagram is awesome too btw.
Next time exit at the reservoir and take Old Santa Cruz Hwy to Summit, then Summit to Old San Jose road. You'll end up in Soquel village and it's a nice cruise, no lowered Hondas.

True.. I go back and forth on that. During tourist season I try to stay off the hwy though. Would rather be behind a slow Volvo than in a pack of beachgoers who don't know hwy 17.

That dude in the civic must have either A) been a really bad driver or B) had some worn out tires on the back.
I used to have a civic which was bone stock that would handle 17 at 70 with no problem. My girlfriend also has a bone stock civic that will do the same.
What a jackass.
What's even worse are the pick up trucks and SUV's that drive that road like they're in a car. I've seen at least half a dozen wrecks involving those vehicles on 17. Usually they wind up flipping.
