Sounds like a FAT lawsuit to me. They could have at least treated him for the bleeding so that he didn't lose anymore blood on the way to the next hospital.

I really hope an ambulance was there to transport him!

Man, that could have been the difference between life and death! How can you have an ER that can't treat gunshots?

I'm not a sue happy person and usually frown upon people that sue, but Alex lost his life and could possibly still be alive... I would sue the CRAP out of that ER!

very sad to read I hope they catch whoever these guys are. Man what is wrong with so many people to do these crimes and destroy peoples lives? Hang in there I know its hard but seriously turn to friends and loved ones death is always hard to deal with. If you need people to talk to reach out! My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.

I have lost more people than I can count and its so hard each time but reaching out to people was the only way I got through it. when my brother died after both of my parents died is when I lost it and bottled up. Later I learned that was a bad choice. I held all my emotions and thought and did no good but hurt more. Friends are wonderful to be around and some didn't even have to say anything to me but the fact they were there ment so much to me.

I know you don't know me but if there is anything I could do or we could do please let us know.

From what i know is that they put him in the ambulance but died in transit. It pisses me off knowing how Alex was staggering into the ER for help but was told they can't treat him there, and wasn't treated before transit with that being the law.

No problem slugrx, but Jessica, Alex's cousin, is making t-shirts for him so if you want let me know. If you have one, right on, keep his love and devotion alive for that he has moved on and not died. A person like Alex aka Lex will be missed a lot. If you were unable to be at the viewing there were soooo many people there last night, he has touched so many lives.

O.K.

WHAT THE ****.....

THey turned him away? That hospital should be sued for all they are worth. That's the most ridiculous thing. O.k. Turn away a sick person without insurance but don't turn away someone that's clearly in danger of dying if you do not take them in.

I just don't get this crap. I got turned away from 3 or 4 places once after a cycling accident. I had good insurance just not the insurance they wanted. So friggin lame. I was COVERED in blood. I had taken damn near half the skin of the left side of my body. Jacked up my ribs, my ankle and my hip. I mean my hip was swollen up so large my shorts barely fit.

And this poor kid was probably drowning in his own blood.

No reason for this crap.

This is a big reason I'm persuing the police department. I want to help stop this crap from happening.

Really really really sorry to hear about your loss. Not only did you lose a friend but you had to hear that he didn't pass away peacefully, but in pain trying to get help. Really sorry for that. The family should sue the crap out of that hospital. Its not like had the flu and no insurance, HE WAS SHOT AND DYING!! I don't get these idiots. How can a hospital not be setup for gunshot wounds? Its not cancer or HIV/AIDS. Sorry for the rant, but thats the kind of **** that pisses me off.

Again, really really sorry about your loss. My prayers go out to you, your family and his family.

How can a hospital around SF/Oakland NOT have a gunshot trama unit or at least the ability to start the person set up so he can make the transfer.

Sorry to say, but being a cop will do little to nothing to help this sort of situation. You'd be better off as a lawyer.

Yeah, that's mind blowing... I really hope his family decides to sue them, not just to get money, but so that hospital is forced to expand and take care of dire patients!

All hospitals should be able to stop a bleed somewhere, gettin turned away is just MORALLY wrong, what is wrong with todays ****ing society. It wasn't like his brain was bleeding out or needed a neurosurgeon.
