Sorry I forgot to tell you where City Car Radio is, there in San Francisco on Pacific and Van Ness. Across the street from Harris Steak House. These guys will tuck away your wires, if you wanna see the work you can hit me up and take a look at my car. They did a full audio system and alarm system for me. They'll take care of you if you mention I sent you.

Alarms should be illegal.

When was the last time you heard of car theft or break ins being prevented by an alarm? Most criminals now use alarms to mask the sound of breaking windows, and to spot cars that have **** to steal. They literally walk down the row of cars and tap on them until they get an alarm to go off, and then break the window and steal the stereo. 99% of alarms going off are just false alarms, so everyone just ignores them. I set off about 3 of them every day when I drive out of the parking garage. It's just noise pollution, and it's annoying.

Lojack or something that would remotely notify you via phone would be better. Then you're only annoying yourself.

Audiomobile in Oakland carries Compustar alarms with remote paging. They do excellent work. Ask for Alan.

deathwish does have a point:

I've only had my cars vicitimized by a smash-and-grab.. never stolen (yet). I can't always prevent a smash-and-grab with an alarm, but it will help in some cases. Maybe, then; should I be using lojack instead since the entire install cost wouldn't be far off? I would also be saving on insurance since I believe lojack users get discounts.

but what if it gets stripped by the time i realize it's been stolen, then lojack is an utter failure at that point?
