Car Info: A crazy ass wagon ! Voltex and 18x9.5 +22 FTW !
I own both Daniel, a modded WRX and a bone stock CL type S. Both cars have seen weds night drags at Infinion and ill tell you that from a stand still the CL type S stands no chance against a STi. On the other hand... My CL went 14.8 , 14.9 all night long at the track. Non turbo impreza... no chance sorry, the CL is actually decent power, STi... the CL has no chance in hell, and against a WRX... the WRX driver better know what he's doing or the Cl will take it.
Road course... I think the CL stands a decent chance. Car has traction control that works well ... and the pick up is pretty quick. At higher RPM's, the VTEC does its job and pick up is nice. Easy car to drive. Ive never driven or riden in a non turbo impreza before so I couldnt tell you a heads up opinion, but ide say not to underestimate the CL

I'd say don't underestimate any well-setup FWD car. I used to somewhat hate on FWD, but experience has thought me that a FWD platform can be very capable and more forgiving than AWD and RWD. Hell, '90s Civics and CRXs dominate at autox and make great track cars too. They have independent double wishbone suspension which absolutely rules over our crappy strut/strut setup due to keeping camber unchanged when cornering.
3,500lbs is a heavy car. CL is more of a luxury car, not meant for racing.

my friend had a cl-s with the supercharger, and it pulled harder than his current 305 hp evo on the freeway...however, first gear had nothing though...even with just i/h/e, the cl-s makes decent power, id say faster than a wrx with a tbe/tune...dont sleep on them on the freeway, even with your car's setup...
he had coils, 18s with some random tires, it had nice smooth steering and stability, but i never really got to push it around the corners, so i couldnt say much about a road course...but against a non-turbo impreza? i think the cl-s would beat it anywhere

cl-s are nice cars the pass side mirror tilts down so you can see the curb before you hit it. and if they were 6 speeds they go pretty good! Ive seen them go 13.8x stock but I would love to hear how it would go down with your sti and them. next time hit it then let off!!!
My moms Jeep rolls down the mirrors when you put it in reverse too

Ok brucelee I just did a freeway pull with my 05 wrx and my friends cl-s to satisfy your curiosity.. my cars stage 3 w/ vf48, turboback,800cc injectors anf fuel pump tuned by shiggy @ ahq. Cl-s only has exhaust.. it got smoked pretty hard.. I don't think those cars would be able to take a 2.5rs on the track

Check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEXQe_9e0f4
and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsVAODaimpg
gives you a better idea what a cl-s with six speed can do.
