Car Info: 97' Dodge Cummins and an RSTI thingie
Due to the overwhelming response to the ad, I am going through the emails as quickly as possible. I am getting offers for over $1000 so if you offer less I can’t accept. Best offer takes it. I am available this Saturday afternoon in Walnut Creek. Serious buyers only, come with cash in hand and be prepared to tow it. I have to sell it this weekend if possible. I will be out of the country for the next two weeks on vacation. Please read below.
Answers to some frequent questions:
1) It isn’t running. I thought it might be the alternator but when I charged the battery it still won’t start. It could be a timing belt issue or a simple starter problem. You will have to tow it. I was driving it on the freeway when the lights dimmed and it just slowly came to a stop. Don’t know more than that about what the problem could be. No smoke, no engine noise, etc. It just stopped.
2) Car is sold as-is. Replaced the stereo but the company sent me the wrong mounting kit, not mounted, but hooked up and works great. New speakers in the rear as well. Those need to be mounted correctly also.
3) Water gets in the car when it rains, and it just rained so the carpets are wet and I have done the best I can to dry them but it needs to be cleaned more thoroughly to prevent mold. It has a smell to it on the inside from the rain, just being honest. A good carpet clean would probably get rid of that right away. I just don’t have the time.
4) I was driving the car when I was in the accident in 2005. The insurance considered it a total because the damage was more than what the blue book value of the car was…and any Subaru lover knows that this car is worth far more than what the blue book value is. So I paid the insurance company to get a salvage title and slowly had the car repaired as I could afford it.
5) The frame was not damaged in the accident. The engine was also undamaged. The damage was cosmetic to the front end. Bumper, hood, etc. had to be replaced. I was lucky to find a Subaru 1999 that was just like mine, same color, everything, that had been totaled in the rear. The shop basically chopped the good half off of the other Subaru and put it on mine. New dash and steering wheel with airbags intact…tested, they are safe.
6) Car is beautiful. You would never tell it had been in an accident, the paint is perfect, it looks just like a brand new car. There is a scratch on the left rear bumper.
7) Why am I selling it? I live near BART and can walk to the station and to work in the city. I don’t even need a car anymore and I hate to see it just sit there in the parking spot undriven. It needs work, I just don’t have the time or money to deal with it at the moment. It also represents a part of my past I am needing to let go...TMI I know.
I am not putting down my number at this point because I have a day job and can't have my cell ringing all day. If you provide a good offer and you are serious about buying, I will respond to your email with my number, or I will call you. I am being as honest and up front about the condition of my car as possible. I think this car should go to someone who knows Subaru's and is willing to put some work into it. I don't want anyone to be misled and I don't think this is probably the best car for a teenager's first car, it does need work from a person who knows what they are doing. It is fast and your kid will probably wreck it trying to race it. This car needs to be pimped and raced by a responsible owner that will love it as much as I have. If you're serious, please reply back.
Thanks for all the interest! My car is flattered!
