That's not a new design at all. Look at the Elf F1 cars of the early eighties. Same design and those things were damn near unbeatable.

Yes that is a Tyrell F1. The idea was to make the front wheels small enough to get them out of the air flow. They needed to add a second pair to make up for the reduced contact patch. The idea was to improve aerodynamics not cornering. I don't recall it as being very successful. I think they only ran one year and noone ever copied the design.

I guess six wheels is hypothetically a good idea, but the technology of four wheel cars are so advanced as to make six wheels unnecessary. An interesting project though!

I don't think they did well in F1. The vehicle encountered tons of problem and they got rid of it the following year.

Yeah, my bad, I was mixing facts between two different Elf/Tyrell. Regardless, it is a design that has been done before.

no joke....just extra money. buying 4 quality tires is bad enough.haaa.

personally....I think it's nasty and a whole hell of a lot of money..but if they figured it out...good for them.

Might rip in the straits though. maybe they should make nascars like that..haaa.

thats exactly what I was thinking....that and "gh3y"

I mean its cool that they were able to successfully do it....but IMO, those extra two wheels are useless, unless you are looking for a spare that you dont have to change if you get a flat, just keep driving, the other tire will take over. Plus I am sure that adds about 50-75 extra pounds to the car that is un-necessary.

Yeah, without those extra wheels its a pretty decent looking sportscar. It just looks like someone photoshopped them on.
