apparently they never thought of putting up some fog lights on each pier...of course not, that would be way too much money to spend.

yeah it was a freighter, their engines use a swimming pool worth of oil im assuming

There's a lot of work involved to degrease and wipe down sea birds after an off-shore oil spill like the one that just occurred in the Bay, but a few minutes spent doing a gentle cleanup on the unfortunate creature can result in a nice clean bird that will taste just great.
