Well somebody said the San Carlos one doesn't have it anymore, so that only leaves south bay and east bay stores. There aren't that many pepboys in the bay area..at least around me.
What oil filters do you guys use? I've been reading this and that on the subi forums and don't know which filter to use anymore..some say the Purolator ones from auto stores are diff from the Subaru ones because the Subaru ones have a slightly diff design, others say they're the same. Then you have black/white/blue/pink oem filters...there's so many of them

Any of you guys ever use Pentosin synthetic oil (Pento High is the turbocharger one)? Its also a german oil and made for bmw/vw/merc. I would think it should be ok but wanted to see if anyone else had used it before.
Its a little more expensive but I have a few bottles lying around at the shop.

However, Purolator offers an oil filter for Subarus with one closer to the factory-spec bypass valve than the other oil filter companies. Also, if you want to feel better, Purolator was once the Subaru OEM oil filter, the white Subaru oil filter.

The Subaru oil filter is the only one with the factory-spec bypass valve.

The PL 14460 is the 2.0L WRX filter. The PL 14612 is the 2.5L WRX/STI filter. The PL14612 will fit the 2.0L...the opposite is not true due to header heat shield clearance on the 2.5L.
The 14460 has no ADBV, has a 20-25psi bypass pressure and is equal to the Purolator made white Subaru filters from times past but without the leaking seal. I would use this one if I had a 2.0L.
The 14610 is about 7/8" taller than the 14612 and both have a silicone ADBV, a 14-18psi bypass valve.
All 3 have the same threading and gasket diameter.
14610 are quite plentiful actually as they are the Honda filter.

I'm not saying this is true, I'm just pointing it out lol.

I went to the Pep Boys in Sunnyvale just now, and wasn't able to get this deal. The computer wouldn't automatically apply the discount, and the new add doesn't have this deal in it, so I was out of luck.
