the front label on these also reads, "european formula" so that you know which one to get.
If I remember correctly, a difference between european formula and the real German Castrol, just fyi. I remember a while back I bought the european formula but it was made in USA. Where it usually has the api symbols is where it will say made in Germany or USA or something. Another thing is the real German Castrol oil is actually green, I don't know why, but thats what the oil nerds at bobistheoilguy say.

My last oil change I put in the european formula of 5w-40 from Castrol, I've had to add a quart so far and I've put about ~3.1k.

I look at the back to make sure it still says made in Germany just in case. Because I almost had that happen to me at Autozone a few months ago.

Yep, my buddy had been using M1 5w30 in his LGT but switched to normal Castrol Syntec and he basically said the same thing - that the engine sounded quieter and smoother.

I've had this problem for the past 2 years - only one Autozone carried it. But lately its really easy to find. The auto chains must have noticed that once they stocked it, it was instantly sold out! Glad they finally wised up to the demand.

Which Oil Filters are they? The Black Ones, the White Ones or the new Blue Ones? Do you happen to have the part numbers from the filters?

Yes, oil grade and forumlas are different all around the world. Thats why 5-qt jug of mobil 1 synthetic here is about 25 dollars and in germany, about 3 or 4 times that.

I'm a complete noob when it comes to oil, and well actually a lot of other things, but anyhow what is a good forum to read up on Subaru's and using 0w30. I'm just paranoid to do anything other than what the factory tells me: 5w30.

Thanks.

I believe the syntec is full synthetic. If it wasn't it would say sytec BLEND.

Is that castrol dino-oil or full synthetic at that price?
