Well, you can probably guarantee
#1 Crabtree instant starter. (playing well, good moves, great hands, plus he's gettin $$'ed, 49ers will want to use him)
#2 Hill lost his starting job.
#3 Smith is probably a middle bloomer (not a Matt Ryan/Flacco) kinda guy. But one that develops later. Which would be great, the niners need a consistent QB!

#4 Smith is gonna use his hands when calling a time out, instead of nonchalantly strolling to the side lines. I mean it happened TWICE.
#5 Smith needs better time management.
#6 Get the ball to Vernon Davis, Bruce, Crabtree, Morgan and it'll open up the running game for Gore.
#7 FIX OUR SECONDARY. How do you let their tight end tear you up like that?!

He impressed me, of course there will be kinks when a backup is in.

That would be just not playing and rusty. Time management will be fixed once he's named the starter. He'll be used to the timing and offense. He did great as the backup being in a different type of offense the Niners don't usually run.

I'm criticizing the way he carried himself in the game, not his performance.

Anywho, I still think Alex Smith is the man, just a late bloomer. Niners expected too much too soon. Romo got to sit in the backup seat for 3 years before he came out and he's done well. I believe the same will happen with Alex Smith.
Although he's been hurt, he still does exceptionally well. I just wish Raye would open up the play book rather than the ground game. Morgan (last years pick) + Crabtree (this years pick) + Solid Vernon Davis + Gore. The weapons are all there. Just need the QB and the offensive Coordinator to give them a chance to make some plays.
I, like explosive offenses (IE Saints/Chargers/Patriots). They make stars. Everyone gets a chance to blow up, just need the pass protection/better play call to get them the ball.
Ground and pound works... but not if your defense isn't shuttin' the other team down =\.

Officially Smith is the starter.
This is the answer I was looking for as in opening up the play book. =)
On a question about the QB
"We certainly have some playmakers out there and having a quarterback that can consistently make the throws that Alex can make, then it gives us a chance to really branch out a bit and open things up a bit.”
On using more of a three receiver formation with Alex Smith going forward:
“We’re going to do whatever we need to do win. Three receiver, four receiver, five receiver, I don’t care. We’re going to do whatever we need to do to win. But we’re going to run the ball.”
Gonna need to shoot up the points, especially against indy.
