^^really they are.
They have the vast majority of the world's consumers convinced that their 1's and 0's are better than everyone elses.

PS3 is a great Blueray player. Haven't tried the upconvert feature yet I don't think. I'm gonna go see how it does with a regular DVD.

I had a buddy from college that worked for Monster after he graduated. Most of the stuff they buy in bulk from the same sources cheap brands get their products. Monster even has a line of products in Radio Shack under a different name.

According to my buddy, it's the SAME exact core. They put different rubber and other styling features to sell at super inflated prices to (Best Buy ect...)

^^i can see high wattage sound systems benefiting from nice audio cables.. since not all of the connections are digital. but if your sound system runs optical then no optical is better than another.

I picked up a 42" Panasonic (TH-42PX80U) from BB for $900 on Monday.

There's a bunch of hoops that you could do on Sunday for the TV, a Phillips HTIB and TV installation for $700 that was posted on slick deals, but I was too late (things sold out, installed too late to use mail-in rebate), so I snagged it still for $900.

Got one of the last ones in the area. I thought it wasn't too bad of a price...

I picked up a 32" Sony XBR6 before it was out yet. I knew it to be released on a certain date and happened to have been in BB and asked them if they had any in stock. They had 2. They were also trying to charge me $200 over what Sony's website had it listed for. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665378963

So I told them I want it price matched, they said yes. There went my stimulus check. I haven't looked back. It's an awesome bedroom tv. BB was trying to pimp their installation and set-up stuff. $300 to come and custom set the TV up for the lighting of the room and ****. Yea ok. I am pissed the Comcast in Tracy is so out of date. Their HD boxes still don't have true HDMI. I have to use separate audio cables to carry over the audio. So the sound is all jacked coming from the cable box.

But I have a question about 120 Hz now that I see you guys talking about it. When you go into like BB and they have the split screen setup and says, 120 hz on one side and not on the other, my eyes can see a difference with the backgrounds specifically. Are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

Oh also, my parents and I have only owned Sony TV's. My TV this one replaced I've had for 5 years and it still works. We have one that is over 10 years old, has been through 3 cross country moves and had the tube replaced once due to losing the color. Only over the past year has the green started to go out on it so it's at it's end.

Could be a lot of things. Usually when done right the 120hz is ok, but hardly is it ever done right.

It could be the video they are playing looks fine at 120hz, but most stuff looks weird, and hurts your brain looking at it.

Its supposed to smoothen motion, but the only true way to doing that is to lower the response time in milliseconds. Most tvs are about 8ms, some are now 5. Most plasmas are 1ms or faster!

Solid TV, but If you can wait, or pay just $200-400 more, you'll be better off with the PZ version at 1080p.

You have 14 days, i'd really look at all the deals right now at frys and other places, especially FRI/SAT/SUN ads in frys.

From trying to do a bit of research before picking the tv up, it sounds like there's not much advantage to getting 1080p at the 42" size. No?

Could be a cause why my wife and I both seem to get headaches off and on when watching TV in the bedroom. I'll try turning it off and see if I notice a difference.

Wrong

With twice as many physical pixels, both TVs side by side in 720p vs 1080p, You would easily see the difference if the signal is 1080i or 1080p. The 720p broadcast signal that Fox uses would not look too much different since the 1080p TV would be scaling it, but 90-95% of HD stations on sat/cable run at 1080i.

Think it over, it's definitely worth your while!

Yeah, you'll find that since nearly all sources are transmitted in 60hz at a broadcast standard that the 120hz interpolation plays tricks on your mind. It looks smoother, but doesn't look right at the same time, and that just makes your head spin!
