30k tuneup and rec for mechanic?
I need to take my car in for the 30k maintenance. Do you think it's worth paying for service at the dealership if the car is still under warranty? If not, can anyone suggest a good mechanic around Palo Alto/Mountain View (or nearby)?

It should not void your warranty going somewhere else, and i'd highly suggest not going to the dealer as they charge ~ $700 for the 30K
Give LIC motorsports a call, i'm sure they can do it for you. www.licmotorsports.com
They are a little far from you, but their service is worth the drive.

hmm... i think the dealers charge bout 200+, depends on where you go. the dealer in my area wanted 4 large bills plus change.
if you can do the work yourself, gooo for it, or else just take it to a shop...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm kind of lazy, so I'm going to stick to a place around me.
I actually called Carlsen and they're charging $585 (after a $100 coupon). A couple of other random shops are charging roughly the same. However, Independence Acura in Mountain View (where I used to take my Integra) quoted less than $300. I had pretty good experiences with them with the Integra, but I'm slightly concerned because 90% of the cars they work on are Hondas/Acuras. Do you think this is a big deal?

Dorifto is right, not all dealers charge the same. I got my 30k done by Maita in Sacramento and it was around $275. Had I thought about it more, I would have taken it to an independent shop, but live and learn (and luckily I didn't pay too much).

I never said "all the dealers charge $768" which, if I had, it would have required a standard sassy remark like the one he posted.
But it's all good. I mean, this is how it works right? I can be "wrong" if that makes people feel better.
