idk that the owner was an EQ customer or running an EQ tune... do you? EQ didn't have any of their motors or work pop to my knowledge. One shop may have though.

I just heard that it was an EQ tune. But idk anything else about it. I thought it was Cobb Stage II.

So this is actually my car. Not really sure what happened -- the water temps never got above 232 (don't know about oil temps, though), boost wasn't spiking, and the car was running strong on 100 octane (but tuned for 91) up until it blew. Hopefully we'll get some more clues once it's torn down. On the other hand, the car has about 50k miles and has seen about 15 track days over the past few months, so at some point maybe it's bound to happen. Anyways, now the fun part is figuring out what to put in there.

For those that are curious, the car is basically a stage 2: CAI, TID, fuel pump, injectors, turboback, and MBC.

Big thanks to all the kind folks from EQ Tuning and guys at the event (sorry I don't know your usernames) who helped with towing and a ride home!

I wouldn't recommend running race fuel on a 91oct map in the future, for what it's worth. Have a tune done for any special fuel you may ever use on street/track before actually using said fuel. I am in no way saying this is related to what happened, just saying it as a recommendation. Not only will you make more power being tuned for any special fuel (ie: 100+ oct, E85, etc), but it will be safer for the engine due to the ECU actually knowing wtf is in the tank.
