04 STI moving from the Bay to Chi-Town
Howdy,
I'm moving to Chicago from the Bay for a job. I'm loading up my car and roof cargo box to get my stuff out there. Proposed route below. I will miss the Bay, but I do have a few questions for anyone from/been to/know someone in Chicago.
1. has anyone made the drive from Cali to Chi? If so, any comments...I want to get a GoPro for this drive
2. good places to hit up when I get to Chi?
3. a good shop to check out my car after driving 2,000 miles?
4. good parking lots/fields to play in the snow?
5. any other info that might help my move!
Thanks!
Tentative Route: i-80 to Winnemucca, NV to Cheyenne, WY to Iowa City, IA to Chicago, IL.
Depart: the 9th around 2pm. Driving times are based on 6ish hour legs.
Arrive: the 12th just in time for st pattys! yeee!

Well enjoy the drive, I live about 8 hours from Chicago, in Minnesota...When you do get there, first thing you should do is take your car and get it washed. Going through all those snow states, with a majority of them using salt...then see Wrigley field...and since your going to Chicago, make a detour and see the mall of america in Minneapolis

If it'll be your first time in Chicago, definitely check out the red bus tours. They take you to every tourist spot and you can tour the entire city in 1-2 days. Very fun.
Good luck on your trip. I'll be taking a different route (I'll probably go through Texas/Arizona for fun).
edit: just one more thing! There's lots of E-85 in Illinois and the exhaust laws are very relaxed, if you know what I mean...
