Seriously why shut down a lane during rush hour traffic. Who ever decided that should be shot. Cal trans is a bunch of retarded *******s. Turns a 30 min drive into 2hrs. God dammit. And what worse this crap is for 2 months.

Also get mad at school too, becuase traffic spiked when school got back into session.

Any public transit you can take? 2 hours is never worth it.

OK so they are doing freeway work. and i can deal with school being back in session. i have been driving this same route for like 3 years now. 60+ miles a day round trip. living in cotati and working in san rafael, mill valley, corte madera. plus trips to home depot and tile stores and stuff.

Never has it been this bad except for the occasional stalled car or accident.

I guess they are widing the freeway like they have been doing from the 580 interchange all the way up to santa rosa but apparently they have to shut down a lane to make a lane.

what i dont understand is it is only a 1/4 mile up from where it was and it makes traffic so much worse.

as far as backroads go. i did the back roads yesterday and those were just as jacked up as the freeways and i guess everyone else is trying to take the backroads.a lot of people who tried the backroads said it was just as slow if not slower.

I work construction and i have my work truck so public transit is out of the queston. dragging around a tile saw and about 3,000lbs of other tools will be a little hard on a bus. but damn i wish i could. but for that matter golden gate buses have been just as screwed up cuz they run down the same length of freeway.

I think i might shoot myself by the end of the week.

p.s. another thing i notcied. chp cars were hella dirty today. and i think i saw them driving on the shoulders and even on the hills of the shoulders to get around this stuff. and that is def something i have never seen them do.

and to correct myself i guess this is going on for 3 months not 2.

I ride my bike to work from Novato to Tiburon and takes me about 40 minutes with lane splitting. If i were to drive it will take me 1.5-2hrs.

Reason they closed the lane:
"The lane near the North San Pedro Road exit has been closed - reducing four lanes to three - to create space to allow work on a retaining wall and soundwall simultaneously, speeding the $124 million freeway widening project to create a continuous carpool lane throughout the county."

But what I don't understand is why couldn't they started this project earlier like in the summer time when there was less traffic. =/

California needs to start developing good mass transit in major citys, that is convinient and reliable.

Anyone ever been to Boston, or NYC ? No need for so many people driving their own car to work.

I think i might actually shoot myself in the head tomorrow,

This is the most rediculous bull**** ever. and i have driven in some ****ty L.A. biznatch traffic.

SO monday and tuesday I leave the house at 7:30am make it to work 9:40am.

at 4:00pm on my way home there is still traffic in that area.

so today i was like ok i will leave 1 hr 15 mins early (6:15am) beat all that **** and get to work on time...

NOPE! got to work at 9:20. left 1hr:15 mins early and only got to work 20 mins earlier.

I know those guys are working hard and all but they definitely got the finger today as i drove by. No one on the work crew saw it but it made me feel better.

3 more months.... you gotta be kidding me.

They've found a way to add the lane back and still continue with construction. It's going to be fixed on Sunday and that "should" fix the Monday commute.

Irish.....try going out "D" street in petaluma, all the way to the golf course in san geronimo, go left and you'll backdoor to san rafael. Even if it takes as long (which i don't think it will), it's a nice drive.
