$400 Portable GPS now $200 at Fry's E.

Just went to Fry's and picked up 2. One as a gift and one for myself. I wasn't thinking about one of these (GPS in general) before. Just didn't see the point of having one. But after couple of guys here at work picked it up. I played with it for a while and I think it's totally worth the money. It's Windows CE based, and you can easily hack it to use it like a PDA. Has 20 channels and pretty easy to use with nice color and smooth navigation. This is my first navi so not much review/comparison, but I like it. I've seen other ones, but this one is small, light weight, and CHEAP!

Have fun!

Hey I was just about to pick this one up on Black Friday sales, they had this one at Staples and I think either Circuit City of best buy. THey sold out really quick. Question, does the MP3 player play music out of the GPS system and not the car's sound system? Or do you plug it in? Thanks Leo. hmm, I don't ermember if they sold it for 150 or 200 at the sales.

I'm looking for one that I can mount somewhere and then run into my already mounted screen. Anyone know of one that has that ability?

BF Sales had it for $150 I believe... It plays music through the speaker in the unit, not the car. I didn't check CC and BB, but Staple is out and they are at regular price right now. BUT Staple has it for $200 as well starting Sunday...

I am sure they have something like that. Maybe check Crutchfield or some local car audio store or something. Good luck!

I got one of these for a friend the other day at Circuit City. So I can't comment on how good it is, but I've only seen great reviews.

CC has the price set at something outrageous like $299, but they will pricematch it IF the Mio is in Fry's retail (not online) store. They pricematch at 110% the difference so it came out to be 187 + tax so you'll save a bit more if you do it this way.

All of our Bay Area stores have this in stock right now, and the everyday price is $198.

How well do they work compared to their higher priced competitors like Garmin, Magellan, and TomTom? Cuz I'd hate to get a $200 unit and waste money on it because it led me to nowhere more times than it's actually led me to the correct location. If this company is good with updating their maps, and the UI is painless to use, I'll definitely buy one.

I just bought my wife a TOM TOM one V2 for Christmas. TOM TOM is offering a $100 instant rebate for the holidays. I got it fom Crutchfied for $399. I needed something that is easy to use, small. Otherwise she won't use it and it'll end up in my car.

cig lighter is just charging, not required. it comes with the suction mount and cable to the computer. easy to hack and turn it into a PDA. Heck I am playing with it in my office right now.

I opened the box over the weekend and have been using it. it's very smooth and the voice guidence is very clear. It's pretty clear on telling you when and where to turn, you just have to get use to it. There are a lot of information on the web on how to download other cool features onto Mio, not sure about Tom Tom. My friend has it changed to some other voice and can now play movies on his Mio

-Once it's fully charged Mio can run for ~5 hours, where Tom Tom ~2 hr
-Tom Tom has BlueTooth where Mio doesn't.
-Tom Tom is also PLUS "Ready" for traffic and weather update, where Mio isn't.
-Mio has internal 1G memory and a SD slot, where Tom Tom uses the SD card for MAP.
-Tom Tom is $300 after rebate, where Mio is $200 without rebate at Fry's.

Oh, neither comes with home charger, but I find that my Motorola SLVR L7 charger works on Mio too!
