$1000 for the fastest lap around button willow...
#61
All participants should get together and
discuss what is fair and what is not.
Most people wants to know which car has
the best setup for Buttonwillow.
The competition does not need to be at
the same time (racing style).
It could be timed separately, because
racing together might be a little bit
too dangerous for others.
Whoever that could produce the fastest
lap wins.
Just my 02.

what if there is slow traffic?
Would that be fair to the person
that is running at the back of the
pack?
Keep in mind that safety could be
an issue when people are desperate
to pass.

Bring your lap timers and just make it the fastest lap per session.
I'm going to put my $$$ on Sheehan. But I'll fight the rest of y'all for 2nd place.
To be honest, i'm not feeling the $$$-thing. It may lead a few people to go beyond their skill level (most of us have cars that are better than the drivers).
This will be my first trip to Buttonwillow, i'm just trying to get a "baseline" for my next few visits.

Yeah, I like the fastest lap thing or fastest point "a" to point "b" timed scenario. However, I am with some of you in thinking that the $$$ may have some people (who have less experience, less skill, or inadequate cars) pushing themselves and their cars beyond the normal limits. This may result in some accidents and God forbid... injuries. Do not get me wrong, I love spirited competition! I just want people to be safe too.
What about S-turns and braking? Are we having those contests as well? Those sound like things we could measure as well as lap times.
Can we do a "G" test? Do they have a skid pad there? I think that would be kinda fun.
Hey...has anyone planned lunch yet!

I agree that the $$$'s thing may cause some potential dodgy driving..
Perhaps this should stick to being a fun Subaru track day (I'm up for chipping some $$$'s in Chris for the "ahem" entertainment!).
Now if some of the tuners/vendors want to have a sideline bet with each other based on fastest lap time....

I personally think that the best lap $$ and the tuner shootout should be 2 very seperate things, otherwise its just going to cause issues. The problem with people using stopwatches is they are not that accurate and it could be a problem. The way to really do it is get transponders and use actual timing equipment ( they should have them at the track already, we would just need use of them. )

ALEX,
There are some great suggestions listed above. Do you care to comment, give constructive feedback, make plans, or just sit there and watch the clock tick down to our BAIC fun day?
Mind you I am just pushing you since you are the organizer. I do not mind assisting you with the whole competition set-up. However, I do have my own business to run and it does take a lot of my time.
Please keep us all informed.
