what pistons do i use?
Im building a EJ22T factory shortblock with SOHC 2.5 heads.
i already know many con rods i can choose from but i dont know where to get forged pistons. in other words what would i say to JE pistons. how will they know my particular needs?
My worries are that the 2.2 pistons dont have the valve reliefs on the top like the 2.5 pistons do. is this important? will the valves hit the 2.2 pistons because of this. would the higher lift of perf. cams increase this risk? please let me know.

I've done the exact same swap. Are you sure you need forged rods?

thanks for the info. if you still got the rods in six months ill get them from you. i want to run a used engine i have first but will build a new block with internals by christmas. Pauter is my rod of choice. They seem to be the most stout. a little case machining is required for clearance issues with the caps/bolts.

2.2 pistons
unfortunately the 2.2 pistons are all custom right now through JE Arias or anyone. and the rods shouldn't be too awful hard to find hee hee. which makes the cost a bit more. another advantage to going with forged pistons and rods is lightening the rotating assembly which is always recommended. we had a customer on the nasioc that shaved off 171g by going with forged steel rods and Arias forged pistons in a larger overbore! http://www.derekcarswell.pwp.blueyon...ld%20parts.htm

just curious.not trying to step on anyones toes. but do you know what forging? in most factory applications i found a 5140 at most which is comprable but not close to a 4340 forged steel which is in most aftermarket H beam rods. when it comes down to making some serious power there is no question about everone is using
