should i buid my motor befor i get a turbo

i have a 1998 RS and i was wondering if i should build my motor up before i get a turbo. because i dont want to blow my motor.
and also wich turbo should i go with

What kit you get is up to you but, look into the 2.5 Sti short block I hear they can be had for about $1300 but as far as I know no one has put one into an RS yet.

Building your engine is always going to produce better long term reliability, but many guys with RS's have turboed their cars and kept the boost at 6psi or below and had no engine problems for 60,000 miles or more. It's all about how much power you want. 6 psi won't get you more than 200 hp or so.
