At 5 psi, yeah, you can get away with running a RRFPR. You get every last pony out of your setup, and you might not get ideal fuel economy, but it'll work for as long as you need it to.

After reading all of this, I am just wondering what year Impreza7s car it. I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that the factory ECUs on the 00-01 RSs cause trouble with am AFC, learning around it, forcing one to reset their ECU like Impreza7 was doing. This, I assume, is why Ludespeed kits ship with RRFPRs instead of AFCs for 00-01 cars. Can someone add to this?

Yes, '00-'01 kits have RRFPRs. They also only run 6 psi of boost. I wouldn't really trust any more than that without some sort of closed loop control.

Hmm, I am just assuming it is somehow possible to tune the S-AFC in a way that doesn't required F'ing with it all of the time or resetting the ECU, else why would Ludespeed bundle it with their 98-99 kits? Using a RRFPR is fine, but since 98s don't have a MAP, I thought that is why S-AFCs are used instead.

There are good reasons for not using anything other than the stock ECU to directly control Subaru ignition coils.
