Unhappy I needs a FMIC and piping, but where do I look?

So after debating the idea of a turbo project for several months, I have decided to save some money and get a custom turbo system made.

However, I have not found a decent price for a Large FMIC. The things I am looking for are not taking out the fog lights (if possible), and 3 inch Inlet & outlet.

Quality is job one, but followed by cost. I would like something show worthy, or Crazy JDM style stuff. Anyways any help would be appreciated.

Larry

There are 3 things to look at when building your car:
Speed
Cost
Reliability

You can choose two. If you want cost and reliability, you cannot have speed. If you want relability and speed, you must incur a higher cost. This is with all forms of motorsport.

from what you've typed, it sounds like you want cost and reliabilty (quality). You will sacrifice speed.

Contact 240sxer. He has an MRT FMIC for sale, sitting in his GC chassis.

Thanks for the help guys.

I was looking to see what kinds of hoses and pipes I could get online too. Also I'm most concerned with reliability. But I want my stuff to look sweet, hence the FMIC.

Regardless I'm talking to 240sxer now so I should have the cold side taken care of.

Road Race Engineering down in california sells mandrel bends in whatever size and degree bend you need. You can in turn paint or chrome or polish 'em up to look all purdy.

3" is too big. You don't need anything that size.
All your doing is adding a TON of volume to your intake tract which will increase lag and make plumbing almost imposible.
I am currently making my own pipes for my FMIC and it's a pain to find the room with 2.5"

I bought an intercooler on ebay for 500 bucks. It fits great except I got one that was too long and it will require me to lose my fog lamps. 10X3 intercooler core that is less than 26 inches and you can save your fog lamps. Mine's 28. The 10X3 still requires some cutting of the bumper (but it is soooo easy) and it fits snug and doesn't rattle or move. Practically a perfect fit.

IF you want to see the progress, go to the hawaii forum and look under "IC carnage", "where did my IC go?", and "You think Pat's crazy...."

Why the hell would you want 3" in/out?

2" in and 2.5" out is more than enough.

2.5" in/out AT THE MOST.

You don't want huge pipes for your IC. From turbo to FMIC you want to keep them smaller and the gradually increase their diameter to the TB.

Having larger pipes than your TB can take is pointless, since your TB is only so big. Plus, you car will lag even more.

.
After all the "fun" I've been having I kinda wish I had gone with 2" in and 2.5" out instead of 2.5 all the way around.

wow. that looks pretty sweet dude.

BTW I have a Greddy FMIC that was used on a GC/wrx hybrid.

The cold side needs to be modded but the hot side fits just fine.

If you want to see a clean turbo setup, with jdm welds (signal auto), check out my FOR SALE section at www.impulszeimports.com. My friend paid about 8k on his sr20 engine setup from Signal.
