CEL, and Fuel management..
I have a 2000 2.5RS with a Forced air tech stage 3 turbo kit. I keep throwing a CEL.. It is always primary O2 sensor reading rich. I want to up my boost to 10psi, and I have WRX 440cc Injectors.. Currently in my Vortech FMU it is running a 7:1 ratio.. Do you think if I up't my boost to 10psi, threw in a 6:1 ratio plate in the FMU, and tossed in the 440cc injectors.. Would I be safe and would this keep the rich running condition. The CEL only comes on when am boosting above 5000 rpms! Let me know what to do.. or even how to get rid of the CEL, with out the other junk,,, anything will help. thanks.

Testing that primary O2 sensor to make sure that it works is the logical first step. That may be your problem. You need to get a handle on your fuel before even thinking about increasing boost or injectors. Do you have a means of measuring injector duty? By the way, you can clear the CEL by unhooking the battery for 4+ minutes.

I don't have a way to check the duty cycle, but I am assuming they are running around 80% or so.. I do have some WRX Injectors sittting right in front of me, and I want to put them in but I don't want to run rich.. Is there any one out there that has a MASP equiped 2.5 RS with a forced air tech stage 3 turboi kit? Help!@

I would tune my fuel curve bt I really don't have a way to do it.. I don't have a fuel computer. Eventually I am going to either get TEC-III or Link, but in the meantime.. ( I work full time and am a full time student, so time and funds are limited) I just want the damn thing to run right. I have talked to a few peoplr that have the same setup that I have , and they say that tey don;t throw any codes. I think that the plate in my RRFPR is to stout.. meaning I need to drop from a 7:1 to a 6:1 or even 5:1.. My car idles like a badass, and under normal driving it is a champ too, just when I hit boost over 4500 rpms, I throw the CEL.. w/ out going to stand alone what do you think I should attempt to do? Any suggestion, links advice, will help thanks again.

Trying that plate in the rrfpr sounds like the cheapest option, but if it doesn't work, you can pick up used S-AFC's like the one I bought, or something like a GREDDY e-manage for under $200. It allows for full adjustment of the fuel curve for both high and low throttle. You don't need a stand-alone system. for the kind of boost you're running. Does your car misfire when hitting 5000rpm? I wouldn't even attempt the new injectors without the ability to adjust your A/F ratio. Subaru's are notorious for running different A/F ratios even on cars with the identical setup. Talk to Ryan at RKPerformance if you want. His website is on my post called "CHIPS"

No missfires or anything like that.. The car doesn't even stumble under boost, it just feels like it pulls timing, as soon as the light comes on.. I will try the plate and hopefully that will work.. or if you know where I can get a used S-AFC let me know too.. Thanks

E-mail me at impreza7@aol.com if you decide you want one of those units used. I've got friends up to their ears in used stuff like this, most of them off DSM's. One thing to remember, though, is that the S-AFC is very easy to install and tune on the fly, but it only adjusts air and fuel. E-manage, as I found out this week, can adjust injector pulse, ignition timing, and to a lesser extent, air/fuel. Good luck, man

Yes I have the split second VC2.. I was throwing the "MAP" code, but I adjusted the clampp down, and that took care of that problem, now I still just run rich as hell. I have a boost timing retarder, that I had set at 5 degrees, but there was no sense of knock, so I gradually kept turning it down. I have it set at 0 degrees right now, and there isn't any knock/ping at all. I still run rich as hell though, when I am under boost. I need a quick fix, before I have to go to a standalone. I know Vishnu just came out with a standalone, that works with the factory ecu. called the Xede (X-EED) it is just like a Hondata that is used on Hondas. They say it will work with RS's but they need to do more testing before it will be released. the price isn't too bad either $800... but anyway, back to the point.. What the hell is up with my CEL??????? Do you think I should convert to a parrallel fuel system, to possibly "even out" the fuel? Hell I don't know.. HELP!
