440cc 11psi How to control??
I have a MY00 RS w/ gt25 ball bearing turbo, top mount intercooler, turbo-XS BOV, Tial wastegate, apexi N1 catback.... etc here is a pic and a description. The Kit Includes:
Turbo: GT25 Dual Roller Bearing Turbo.
Intercooler: A high efficiency intercooler and all of the piping to install it.
Piping: An up pipe (2 1/8 inch) and down pipe (2 1/2 inch) including a 2 1/2 inch high flow catalytic converter section which includes 2 O2 sensor ports is included.
Manifold: The pressure side manifold from the Turbo to the intake manifold and the air intake manifold to the Turbo Charger.
Oil Lines: Oil supply lines to the Turbo and the Turbo oil return line. The passenger side valve cover is included on all the second generation 2.5 L engines for easy installation.
Fuel Pump: Walbro 255
Engine Management: RRFPR, a voltage clamp (for speed density equipped cars) and a piggy back computer system to control ignition timing.
Gauges: A boost gauge, and a digital air fuel mixture gauge.
BOV & Wastegate: A High Performance Tial Sport Wastegate and a high performance sequential blow off valve.
Intake: Cold Air K&N Filter
so anyway.. If I put in WRX 440cc injectors, would I be able to lean them out enough to run them with an SAFC?? I have a tuner up here in colorado that is a stud at tuning, but I figured I would ask you guys 1st?? what do you think

well .... If I had 2 grand sitting around I wouldn't even have posted this , and that didnt answer my question at all. I think its funny that there are all of these products out there ( SAFC, super afc, Greddy e-manage etc...) that work when they are tuned right, but all anyone ever replies is get a stand alone.... what if you don't have $2000 dollars sitting around? hmmmm.. weird. I don't mean to jump at you guys, but that is weak. If I had a stand alone, I wouldn't need to worry about anything, except how and where to get it tuned. Thanks for the help...

Your situation is exactly like the SMC hack from the Honda-Tech'Rs It's where they use a bigger injector and a piggy back just like S-AFC or Fields or SMC box to lean out the injectors in order for people to keep their stock computer. I know what you are getting at because one of my friends with a Honda Civic SOHC turbo is did the same thing and pulled it off. He got 210whp on a Greddy kit, a stock d16 VTEC motor, and SMC hack. It might work for Subaru's, but I don't know if the stock ecu would like it.

Really though, in all honesty, if you don't have extra money for the creeping costs of a turbo (and i haven't seen even ONE install that didn't have extra costs), then you shouldn't go for the install.

my buddy has a 96 4dr civic sohc with apexi turbo kit that has the stock computer vortech and rc310cc and wisco pistons egale rods made 301whp @18.1 psi no ecu mods just check vavles on the map sensor

You are a blown motor waiting to happen... I'm not trying to be rude or flame but you really need to do some more research before you commit to turbocharging a 10.0:1 motor. The only response you've gotten in this thread that should be useful to you is:
A piggyback solution will work if you know what you're doing but it is far from optimal. Do you know what the efficiency range of the GT25 is? Do you know the amount of fuel you need to run X psi on a 10.0:1 C/R motor? How do you plan to control ignition timing? Please, before you grenade the engine do some more homework. The reason you're getting the "get a standalone" response is because too many RS owners have been in the same boat as you, barely a dollar to their name and only able to put band-aid fixes into a turbo project. If you cannot afford to do it right, please do not install the "kit"... save your money and do an EJ20 swap if you want reliability.

As soon as I put in a Link Plus and got it tuned for 5 PSI I was pulling harder down low and my top end was way stronger. I was then making about 190whp and 200ft/lbs of torque at about 3200 RPM's. Stand-alone engine managment units work if tuned well, like you said. Though there is a lot of support for the Link Plus out there, one person you can always ask is me. I have been tuning them for years now on RS's and WRX's.
Also we are working with a company right now that is developing a new stand-alone engine management unit. Similiar to that of the Link Plus except better and cheaper. The price will be around 1200 for everything you need to get the car running and the ability to tune it. An AFC and ITC and Boost Controller will easily cost that.
That's my $0.02

well I think I can scrap up 1200 if you can give me any more info on the stand alone that you are developing that would be awesome. Thanks!!
