1999.5-2001 Impreza 2.5rs TurboKit Inquiry

I'm coming from the VW world, and don't know a thing about subaru aftermarket products.

Where can I purchase/research turbokits for a 2000 subaru impreza 2.5rs...

Right now there are off the shelf kits from Forced Air Technologies and AVOTurboworld. That's pretty much it. That's who you can purchase from... research can be done here using the search function.

Wow me too. Well coming back to a Subaru anyway.

I've talked to Robert at Forced Air Technologies and he seems like a really good guy to buy from. I had some concerns about doing a turbo kit on my 2001 2.5RS but I think for the money you're getting a pretty good deal. I was kind of on a fence about dropping in an STI engine or even a USDM WRX engine. But I think I'll be going with the stage II turbo from FAT. The kit sounds pretty easy to install and Robert says he'll answer any questions anytime.

Becareful with boosting the 2.5 engine. It's a pretty high compression engine and things can go from bad to worse if you're not careful I hear.

Also if you plan on going turbo thinking about stopping is a good idea. At least upgrade to WRX sized rotors and better pads if you're still running a stock brake system. Also don't forget suspension. Won't be as fun having a turbo with stock suspension. Power is nothing with control. YMMV.

AVO's is probably still the best kit you can still buy for the RS... it's not cheap but it's complete... there's some options you can do too like fmic etc... There were some better performing kits like the Vishnu one but it's not being made anymore. FAT kits are decent too for the price, and there's also a couple supercharger kits that will be done in the next couple months. www.rallitek.com is good for the avo's and just a good selection of n/a mods in general...
