Stage two or not?
1. 09 wrx's apparently do well with just the tbe and tune
2. I've been punked a few too many times with my damn stock hatchback
3. I've got a good deal for tsudo (ebay/knockoff) parts
Right now I'm trying to decide whether to go stage two or not. I've been rev'd at and called out numerous times and even flicked off in my stock hatchback. I bought this car to be quick, not to be raced or definitely not to have other cars downshift right in front of me (which scared the **** out me because I would've crashed had I not braked). I was gonna go with just a catback for the sound (invidia street for those curious) but for the price I'm being offered, I'm wondering if I should stick with the warranty or not. I know there will always be punks but being flicked off isn't a good feeling when I only just did a head check.
so, stage two with my relatively new 09 wrx or just get the catback since I'll still be quicker than most non-turbo'd 4 cylinder cars? The warranty is nice, and 08's were known to have engine problems, but my car should be ok. Just can't decide whether to void the warranty or not. Being flicked off seriously made me think "To hell with the warranty," this morning.

Getting a cbe is just going make people try and race you more. The thing is, its going make you sound a lot quicker but in reality youll be just as slow(or fast, glass half full deal). If you get a TBE and a tune you will sound quicker and be quicker. If something does happen and you need the warrenty just take the parts off and put the stock ones on. My 2C.

Who cares about the warranty. When something breaks, think of it as an excuse to upgrade lol. Just FYI though, on the legacy's the plastic end tanks on the tmic have been known to crack under stage2 boost. Idk about the new wrx's but I mean they're the same thing. So just make sure you got money in case you need a new intercooler lol.

^^^^I think itʻs weird because I have an 02 WRX.
I have never been revvʻd out or Flicked Off.
Your Car should be smacking these dudes left and right.
IMO...Donʻt get Knockoff Parts. Save your Money and get something Good!

Get stage 2 because YOU want it. Not because of other douches. Another thing, the stock 09 WRX is plenty fast. But if you want to upgrade to stage 2, do some research and buy the right exhaust for you. Spend a little bit more money for a better quality exhaust. Do it once, and do it right. Other than that, have fun with the suby!

If I were you I would get a nice quiet catback whether you go stage 2 or not. Something like a Borla Hush or a Maddad Whisper. If you go stage 2 with an invidia street catback you will probably end up getting a giant 3inch catless downpipe with it and then you will be getting bugged by the police because it will be LOUD.

OP,
Not to be super-mean (just regular-mean) but judging by your last few threads, you're a spaz...I can imagine a thread from you in a few weeks reading:
"Hey guys, I just got my AP but am so scared to open the box!!!!".
So do us a favor and leave your car alone. Besides, technically, your car is supposed to be faster than at least 80% of the cars in HI...perhaps the driver needs an upgrade first?

if you're concerned about your warranty, then modding will have to wait. you can't be in between. either you do it or you don't. just remember, once you've modded and took that extra step(hint:stage 2), it's hard to go back..... just my .02.
voted for stage 2...lol.

In my opinion, if you are scared of warranty....
Do drop in filter, catless and cobb.
You will be amazed how much whp you can get without spending crazy amount of money.
Easy to put back to stock. no problem with warranty...

IMO if you are scared of warranty YOU REALLY NEED to get rid of your car and get another or you can just NOT touch your Suby.....There is an old saying "you gotta pay to play" in other words don't go crying to the dealer when you blew something and a mod contributed to it.

i guesss since everyones tossing in their 2 cents, i shall as well.
If you are getting parts so you get shut the punks up, its not going to work because there is an unlimited amount of them on the road.
As people have already said, get the parts for YOU and whatever makes you happy, whether its a huge brand name or not is your preference. I personally would not buy any performance parts off some asia based company.
Warranty, I am in the same boat as you. I want to mod my car so bad, but I want to make sure I milk my warranty. That is the path I have decided to go with as I slowly start purchasing my suspension parts that will go on the day I hit 35,995 miles, swing by the dealer, and get it checked by the dealership one last time before I slap on all my mods. :-D
feels like i dropped 50 cents but hope that my 50 cents helped you out!
