RallyCross @ Thunderhill - April 17 Online Registration

It’s time to play in the dirt! http://www.sfrscca.org/RallyX/

RallyCross @ Thunderhill, April 17th, 2005 - Click here for online registration

The complete 2005 schedule:

April 16th: TSD Rally to the RallyCross (more info)
April 17th: Thunderhill RallyCross I
May 14th: Thunderhill RallyCross II
June 25th: Thunderhill RallyCross III
July 23-24: Golden West Road Rally
September 24-25: Thunderhill Rally School
October 1: Thunderhill RallyCross IV
October 2: Thunderhill RallyCross V

Some new stuff for 2005:

We are using the new SCCA RallyCross performance classes this year. Click here for more info

The September Rally School will take place over two days. The first day will be similar to the California Rally Series schools we’ve hosted in the past. The second day will be designed more as a driver’s school with minimal in-class time (due to popular demand ). You will be able to spend nearly all day practicing in car with instructors and solo.

There’s initial discussion of a 2005 National RallyCross Championship. More info will be posted when available. In the meantime, the more SFR events you attend, the more points you get, the more likely you are to trophy and have a shot at Nationals.

YES!! It's about time! I'm definitely signing up!

Edit: Wait, wait...you have to have at least one catalytic converter? What about open class? I'll probably get owned in open class, but that's alright.

The first day of the school will be the California Rally Series Rally School. The page below is for their Ridgecrest school but it will be the same thing at Thunderhill in September:

http://www.rallyusa.com/CRS%20School/crs_school.html

The second day is still being worked out. Our "coming soon" page is here:

http://www.sfrscca.org/RallyX/?rallyschool2005

... and this will be updated when more information is available (how to sign up, pricing, etc). If you have more specific questions, the Rally School Organizer is Michel Hoche-Mong and his contact info is on that page.

Sweet - I may take you up on that offer.

We're probably going to run an actual tech at the first event, instead of the self tech we usually do. This will make things a bit easier for getting people settled into the new classes.

Also, cones will now count 3/100ths of a minute (1.8 seconds). This is more in line with the national SCCA RallyCross rules of 2 seconds. I guess this means I actually have to miss the cones this year.

Check out the track during winter time: http://homepage.mac.com/sgrantz/PhotoAlbum4.html

Wow, this looks like a lot of fun, but I think I need to finish breaking her in before I take her rallying

There have been a couple people who haul *** in well worn street tires so you certainly don't need anything special. Of course, if you're running low profiles or 18s or something... yeah, it may be hard to keep air on those things.

I've got a set of about 30% tread ES100's (245/45/17)....think those would work out?

Ouch, I don't think the Azenis are going to like that. Ah, screw it. I'm going in anyway.

The size is fine... just air 'em up a bit before the race to strengthen the sidewalls. With 30% tread on ES100s you won't have the best grip out there but you'll still have a lot of fun. You'll want to try to keep to the inside of the turns since generally most people go wide and the loose stuff accumulates on the outsides. Well... regardless of tires you want to take good lines of course, but going in too hot with less grip will just penalize you more time wise since you'll spend more time sliding through the turns rather than driving through them.

[Edit: PS, but like I said before, I've seen someone absolutely haul *** in very worn tires. ]

Well i will be there for anything you need to help. And ihave very worn stock re92s i run and they seem to be good but i may have to upgrade them to a new used set of re92s for the season. Its all driver at the rally cross skyler can tell you that. Just watch him drive....its like watching the fastest lap of the drift king

I'm fully aware that everything is the driver . After getting spanked last weekend by Leo at the AutoX running his RE92s, clearly I'm not an amazing driver. My question was mostly about if I'd be running at least safely, and it sounds like thats a yes, so I'll probably be there! I'm psyched!
