I've always used Eclipse for tint work. They are on Auburn right next to the Carmichael Honda dealership (not in Carmichael BTW), just off Greenback.

depending on your confidence it may be something you can do yourself. There is a holiday special right now in the vendors section of a nother forum and they are advertising the 3M precut clear bra kits for 160 dollars. This is a steal since they are usually $260.00. It goes on similar to tint and it comes with the tools for install. Anyway check out www.rockblocker.com as they are the ones with the special (oh and that is shipped).

Thanks for the help guys. I have a friend who actually tried to install it himself on his 05 Acura TL and it came out horrible. It did not line up the way it did and had a lot of wrinkles and stretch marks. I purchased my STI from Ron Price in Serramonte and they offered the clearbra for $900 and tint for $299........ I could barely tell the clearbra was on there, but that's a bit far for me now and wanted to shop around for pricing and most importantly installation quality.
Coincidentally, my neighbor had his 05 Z4 clearbra installed early this morning so I sat and watched two guys work on it. They installed the film on the bumper, entire hood, fenders, mirrors, headlights, and the whole two doors for $2300. He did the doors because of dings and scratches..........actually looks pretty nice and can't even tell the clearbra is on the door at all (the car's black too). These guys offered to put the clearbra on the entire car if he wanted! They showed us pictures and a video of an Enzo that had the entire car done!- One word for that car - Amazing!
Anyhoo, I'm going to have these guys do my clearbra and tint since they're mobile and the installation on my neighbor's car is flawless. Kill two birds w/ one stone. Save me a trip to two different shops and get a package discount!
Thanks again guys! This forum's awesome!

There is a place on Sunrise that cuts their own film that quoted me like 200 something to do it. I don't know about your friend but if he has never done tint before then that is probably why his looks like junk. I have tinted a few friends cars with pretty good results so I think I am going to give this a try for 160 I don't think I can go wrong. The kit looks like this.
Just a note though, doing the whole doors seems a little silly since the film cannot protect against dents really. I mean it would protect the paint from getting scratched during the denting process and so I guess it could be rubbed out easier but other than that it seems overkill. I want to do my door cups (the indentation where people scratch when opening with the handle) and my door edges (where people open the door against a wall and nick the door edge paint).
The stuffs really only good for scratches. 2300 was a "BMW" pricing. That is way too much. You might as well have your car painted again for that.

LagnWagn - They gave me a pkg deal on the tint and bra if I do it at the same time for $900. If I do it separately, it would be $650 for the clearbra and $425 for the tints. They just finished up on the tints and bra. I just gotta say, these guys are absolute perfectionists all the way. There were dust spots behind the film that I didn't even see from a ft away, and they still took the time to take it out..........especially from all the hair that my lab leaves floating around in the garage.
Their pricing is on the high-side, but these guys deal with exotics and high-end luxury cars, so it's safe to say that their skills should be up there as some of the best to be working on half a million dollar cars. Now I feel special that my subby is getting the same treatment! lol
Yeh, I thought it was overkill for the doors as well, but they actually did a demonstration early this morning with their own car. The guy drives an Infiniti G35 coupe with the entire car covered with clearbra except for the front left fender bc of a bad scrape on the film........yep, entire car like the Enzo they showed us in video.
Let me 1st say, he's got ***** to do such a demo. He took out a golf ball and wrapped it in a microfiber towel and swung it w/ a good amount of force onto the unprotected fender and it left a dent about the size of a qtr. He went and did the same thing on his door and there was no dent on that door! I cringed at the site of such abuse, but these guys do pdr as well, so they took the dent out right away. They did tell us that it really depends on the amount of force placed onto the door, but the bra could protect it from a good amount of force. That's what really sold my neighbor on getting the doors done as well.
Personally, if I have an expensive luxury car, I would bra the whole car as well. I wouldn't ever want to repaint because of paint matching issues. Plus, I would definitely wanna keep the stock paint over aftermarket. I guess I'm just a bit **** about stupid stuff like that........
All said and done, it costed me a good amount of chg for 6 windows tints and a clearbra, but have a pc of mind of maintaining the resale on my car from thos epesky chips.
According to the film manufacturer called Venture Tape, the car cannot be washed or wet for another 2 wks. I though this kinda sucked for me as it's been raining on and off here in sac. These guys told me it won't be a problem bc they dried the film for me! Now that's VIP treatment guys!
I'll see how this film works out, but so far I am very impressed with the results. From 2 ft away, I cannot tell the film is there.........that's how clear this stuff is! For those searching for tints or bra or even dents, I highly recommend these guys over at Premire or Premier a call - 510-390-6920.
Thanks again for all the help guys! Happy New Year!

The Venture Tape is the less expensive 7mil film if I recall. The 3M Scotchguard stuff is the good stuff and is 8mil (yeah, I know only a mil difference but I think that Ventur Tape may yellow faster) so I am surprised you didn't get the 3M stuff for the money you paid. That would be cool if it protects it from dings, maybe the stretched pressure keeps the panels more rigid but I just don't know. Maybe there is a difference in panels between fender and door (but crazy example anyway). I guess I will have to post up my pics after I try to do it myself.
Congrats on protecting the car. You will be able to drive behind trucks with an *easier* mind. I can't wait to get mine.

Yeh I know. I woulda never thought of anyone doing a demo on his own car, but I guess it's ok if they're able to fix it w/o any permanent marks. Yeh, as for the film, I was initially gonna go for the 3m tape, but these guys also did a demo between 3m, a brand name clearshield and their film venture with a key. They stretched out the film and had my neighbor and myself try to puncture all of the film. After a good amt of pressure with 3m, the key went through along w/ clearshield, but venture just wouldn't break no matter how much force. I thought it was just my neighbor cus he's about 50+yrs old, so I gave it a try and man, this thing is tough!
I've also heard a lot of stuff about clearbras yellowing and was a bit concerned about it as well. However, venture has a lifetime warranty from yellowing and fading.......while 3m only comes with a 5 yr warranty. From what these guys told me and what I've heard on the net, it is 3m that is yellowing over time. Not sure if these are just rumors or if there's some truth to it. So I guess, if the exotic cars around norcal are using these guys for venture bras, then I guess it's good enough for my subby. Plus, they also showed us a "clarity" test by showing us all 3 diff films and venture was the clearest by far. 3m and the clearshield stuff was really hazy (less so w/ 3m) and had a lot of orange peel waviness to it.
Anyhoo, these were the two things that really sold me on the spot. I'm not sure if venture costs more or less than 3m, but cost for me was less of an issue than quality of the job. As long as it's not way overpriced, then it's cool. In this case, I feel the high quality workmanship matched the pricing. Gonna post pics as soon as the sky clears up....man, it's way too wet here!
