New Dent Master in the Bay Area RE: www.StupidDent.com

Okay, the previous thread was moved because I did not have a vendor status. After Alex and Alan helped me becoming a vendor, I am back!

First thing first, StupidDent = iBlueVirus.

For those don’t know me, my name is Leo Chan and have been around since www.impreza-rs.com time. I am mostly on www.i-club.com and www.rs25.com, and rarely, but occasionally, on www.nasioc.com.

Reason I am posting is because I am here to help you so you can help me. I’ve recently been trained and certified by The Ding King Training Institute. They are the only state certified Paintless Dent Repair training institute in California. I also use a set of professional PDR hand tools that are patented and manufactured by The Ding King.

However, with no lies, I am not very experienced. The smaller the dent, the easier it is for me. Darker color vehicles have better reflection, therefore easier to fix. However, because of that, darker color vehicles are also easier to spot imperfections. I have full size shop light that I can use and also a small portable light, ding board, for mobile repairs. However, I still need as much ambient lights as possible. The more ambient lights I have the easier it is for me to spot the location of the tip of the tool and faster more accurate it is for me to pull the dent.

With all that said, for those that are willing to take a chance with me, please let me know. Below gives you an idea how I feel about different kind of dents.
Easy -> Hard:
Lighting: Low ambient light, bright ambient light
Reflection: Dark Color Paint, Light Color Paint
Location: Hood, Trunk, Front Fender, Rear Fender, Front Door, Rear Door
Size: Small 1” dent, large 3”+ dent
Type: Small dent, large dent, crease dent, crown or smile dent

I’ve done repairs with just the portable ding board/light and even the shop light, but I noticed if I don’t have enough ambient light, my ability to repair the dent would be lowered dramatically. So if you want to schedule something with me, it needs to be day time or in a VERY well lit area.

NOTE: I am not here to steal business from Justin or any other existing dent masters on i-club. I believe there is more than enough business to go around in the bay area. I truly hope we can co-exist peacefully in online forums such as i-club, just like all the tuners and vendors we have here. Also, I am not here to drive the price down on the PDR market in the bay area. In fact, if you look at my website, my retail pricing is comparable to what is out there. The only reason, it’s so cheap right now (more on this later), it’s because I am new, not that I am purposely charging lower than other dent masters like Justin to steal business.

Online Estimate:

Dent Day/Appointment:
Also, as you can see from my site (Appt http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-signup.php), I have an auto online sign-up form. The site is fully automated and will list the schedule for the next 21 days.

You can look at the Appointment List (Appt. -> Appointment List http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-list.php) to see who is in the list or you can remove yourself from the list. Of course, you are not obligated even if you don't show. Just so I know who is next and people would know where they stand on the list.

To see the locations for the next 21 days, you can go to Location (Appt. -> Locations http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-locations.php). I am the only one that can change the location and I would only change it on the date where no one has signed up yet.

With that said. Once we have determind a location, we can use those forms to organize dent days a lot eaiser.

How Can You Help?
As I have mentioned before, I am new to this and I need practice. I am trained, certified, and have the proper tools for the job. I know what I am doing, but just VERY slow and not very good at it YET. The starting going rate would be $25 per dent

An Experienced Dent Repair Technician:
Retail Pricing:
Size of Dent: 1-inch 2-inch 3-inch 4-inch 5-inch+
Per Dent-Retail: $89 $129 $159 $189 $219+
Percentage of Recovery: 90%-97% Perfect. Most of the time can not be detected by untrained eyes.

A New Dent Repair Technician – Me:
Initial Pricing:
Size of Dent: 1-inch 2-inch 3-inch 4-inch 5-inch+
Per Dent-Retail: $25 $40 $55 $70 $85+
Percentage of Recovery: 70%-90% Perfect. Might still be detectable by untrained eyes (depending on color of the car and severity of the dent).

Get in While You Can!
After I can consistently get the dents back to above 90%, prices will go up! I have no intension to keep the price down. I am sure other local dent masters won’t appreciate it if I do. However, don’t worry, I’ll keep it compatible with other dent masters in the club as well.

Okay, now I got those out of the way. Lets set something up! Someone suggest a good location and I'll setup the "Sign-Up" sheet in my site for it.

Also, if you are only free during the weekday and are close to me (95124/95054). Email me, and we can set something up.

For Dent Days (Sat/Sun) I am willing to go as far north as SF/Berkeley and as far south as Santa Cruz

What do people think about having a Dent Day at the Presidio? I remember we had our i-club meet there LONG time ago. Those pictures made it to the magazine "Drive" too!

Hehe, it's okay, I plan on going around the bay. But just need some good locations. ie, we won't get harassed by the cops or neighbors

Leo,
I have a 2006 Civic with a nice dent on the front hood (Quarter Size). I'd like it removed, I don't care about the chipped paint and at which point you can evaluate two other dents on the same car to wheather or not you want to attempt it. I work in Seirra Point Parkway(Hitachi Building in SSF), Huge parking lot.
Send me a PM so we can coordianate. I can also try to group a bunch of people to see if they are interested in your work. If you were willing to drive out there.... Good advertising for the folks in our building.

Bill,
Is the dent on your hood close to any of the edges? I have two myself, but they are too close to the edge to be worked on. Sound like it's already chipped, how bad is it? If it is chipped too much, I can't work on it because I need the surface reflection to work on it. I can pull most of it out, but can't tell if it's completely smooth or not.
I can only do SSF over the weekend. How about you show up to one of the weekend dent day that I'll be hosting in SF?

ahh... I did a few of those. With my current experience, it is case by case, I really have to look at it to know. dent on body crease/line might a bit much for me to take on now. I can make it better, but might not be able to fully restore it.

just noticed you are in SJ as well. Do you want to meet somewhere today and I can take a look at it? I might have a 6pm appt today. Let me know.
