MSD ignition upgrade?
I did a search and what I came up with was that the MSD DIS2 will
NOT work for the boxer engines?
I am thinking of upgrading my wifes ignition because she is getting really poor gas mileage. A full tank of gas barely touches 120miles!
Ive had MSD ignition boxes on a different car before and I liked the gains it provided...but am I going to have problems with this one?
The car is a 1995 Legacy staiong wagon L AWD.
Thanks for any input...

I had one installed on my 93 Touring Wagon and it worked very well. Later models began incorporating the spark timing into the distributor, which made it completely incompatible.
See this link for my install notes: http://legacycentral.org/library/DIS.htm
Come over to the LCBBS and search for more info: http://bbs.legacycentral.org

Thanks for that link. That is a great write up.
When you said "later models" what years would this be?
Is my year Legacy be incompatible with the DIS?

I'm making a broad assumption, but I'd say anything after 2000 is probably out of the question. You should be ok. I don't have my 90-98 Legacy manual anymore, so I can't check to see if your car has separate spark control. The number of wires going into the distributor should be an indicator of whether or not this is the case. Three wires means it should be compatible. Any more and you're probably out of luck. Also look to see if it's a "diamond" branded one.
