2005 forester xt 5-speed tranny
seen this tranny on the gruppe-s thread .
just wondering , is this tranny stronger than a stock 02 wrx tranny ?
i know that the gear ratios are closer .
but would like to find out as much as possible about this tranny .
looking at all the possibilites type ra , sti 6-spd , etc.

I was talking to a guy at subaru the dealership the other day and he said.......
Subaru has made many improvements to the subaru tranny since 02. The 05 is made to handle more torque and to haul the extra weight.
So I would have to say, yes the 05 tranny is stronger.
That being said, I have the v6 sti ra gears and Im very happy with them
later

The Forester tranny case is supposedly more rigid and has more ribs in it to promote more strength and rigidity. It reduces case flex, which was the major cause of transmissions breaking, and can pretty much hold power much better. I do believe the gears are also stronger then the 02 wrx tranny, but I don't know for certain.
I still think the STi 6-speed is stronger, but I don't have any data to back that up with

6-speed is what i would love to have , but wanting and what i'm able to afford is 2 different things .
so i think i'm leaning more towards an '05 forester xt tranny .
checked out gruppe-s website and they have the xt tranny & rear diff .
hopefully i be able to pick this up soon .

also would any other parts from the legacy fit an 02 rex ?
i remember reading somewhere , that legacy axles will fit in a wrx .
correct me if i'm wrong .
any specs on the legacy tranny , gear ratios and what not .

you have to use the rear too because i dont think the transfer case is 1-1.1
and the legacy half shafts are beefier units
as long as you have the ratios right it will bolt right in
