Warning Before Buying Anything Tein

Their customer service is the worst. I will never buy anything from teinusa again.

I had my flexs blow out. All 4 of them. So I drove down and dropped them off and was told a 4 week turn around. OK no problem.

3 months later I get a call saying they are done. Parts had to come from japan I guess and the extra shipping I paid for and was still changed for didnt matter.

So this brings me to today.

I am doing a full swap into my car for a carbon widebody.
I dropping $$$ on getting this all done.

This is not a flea market project.

So I just had my coil overs rebuilt and revavled and all four piston and rods replaced. Got them back after paying close to 1k.... Used them for a few weeks.
The 5x100 and the 5x114 have differant bolt spacing on the front spindles.

So I call up tein to buy a set of front lowers. They have just given me the new updated ones. They would not sell me the Sti lower mounts.

The parts are identical.. Just where the strut bolts on are differant.

I was told they didnt fit, It would not work. I was transfered to three guys which I will not put their names out. They each told me no we cant sell you as its a safety problem.

Well its a sales problem and the last guy the manager agreed. They have my rebuild money now they are forcing me to buy another set of coilovers $2200 just to get around the front mount problem.

Now they would sell me a front mount if my car was crashed and those were damaged it would be no problem.

But since thats not the case. They want money over customer service.

I will never ever buy a single Tein product again. Sucks as I wanted to buy a edfc at the same time. I guess its better to force the customer to buy new coilovers then to sell them a identical bracket.

CUSTOMER SERVICE... Learn it. Its whats going to help you get thru this poor economy.....

Yeah I found this out when I was doing my Tein research. Pretty wack they won't sell just the lower mounts. They have basically a recall on the older ones to get them swapped with a redesign that's reinforced & looks like the oem suby strut mounts on 06-07 models. Did you have to pay for the updated ones or they just charged you for the rebuild?

For the record, the times I have e-mailed Tein, they have gotten back to me within 24 hours. I like my Teins, but they are just a bit stiff for my needs (10/8 springs).

They swaped the ones out for free. They would just lossen up a bit. Thats all. The new ons have a better pinch around the strut body to keep them from coming loose. I should have got the STi ones then... lol

But I offered to buy them outright and a edfc.. No luck. I guess what they are doing now is working for them.

Tein has gone WAY down hill in the last 5 years.

I don't have a single tein product on my car and I don't think I ever will. Not the tein they used to be.

like i have said before, and i told mike today and he agreed... tein flex coilovers can be found for $600 but the point of mikes sale was to prove to Tein that he didn't give a **** about them due to their Customer service..

crazy to read about this. A product is only as good as the customer service/warranty/support. I was looking at tein for suspension before i read this. I am looking for suspension now for san francisco and freeway driving. I'd like to close the gap in my wheel well without riding like crap. Any suggestions? I have had meghans before and had no probs with them but wanna keep my options open to new stuff. any ideas?
