Custom plasti dip colors anyone?

Anyone interested in plastidip that isn't your generic black white or primary color? Maybe a pearl, metallic, or metal flake?

Easily done. Does your friend have a paint gun?

I'm not. I am just starting to experiment with mixing pigments in plastidip. Thought I'd share the idea if anyone want to play around with it and do some r&d. What I'd like to see from this thread is some works/doesn't work results.

I agree with brennen. Plasti dip does wonders if you apply enough coats.. The more coats the easier it is to pill off..

The problem is that you're using a product for something it was never intended to do. It was never designed as a temporary coating on top of paint that was meant to be pulled off on a whim. And this is why often people have destroyed paint underneath when they do pull it off. Again, this was designed to adhere to bare metal and not come off. And there is also the fact that plastidip fades like crazy.

Nah, I hate it because its not paint... It's made to cover tool handles to give grip... There are many threads on plastidip ruining the paint it covers up. I hate how bad ideas become the latest fads...

Do it right, do it once.

False, plastidip has been implemented in many cases to PROTECT the surface it is applied over. If the surface is dirty before application it may lead to scratches cause by the dirt particles, but certainly not the plastidip itself.

If you've screwed up plastidipping before please don't become a hater, just get educated. And, while I'm educating, I took the liberty of fixing your grammatical errors in the post quoted. You're welcome.

The more coats, the better it comes out! The pics above are layered with either a black, white or grey base coat. Thes base is followed by multiple coats of clear mixed with your desired pigment. For a glossy finish, the plastidip glossifier is used, or a clear coat paint on top (clear coat will make the plastidip a ***** to remove).

Thanks for proving my point...
Most people that plastidip just spray the color they want over paint. Boom job done.
You have thrown on a base coat, color, then suggest clear over? (Sounds a lot like a real paint job to me)

Do it once, do it right.

DON'T RUIN YOUR PAINT WITH PLASTIDIP FOLKS!!!

I see where you're coming from, but I can't see any bad effects on paint unless there is dirt on the surface or your paint is messed up(or not cured fully for fresh paint) to begin with.

Sure, subaru paint is thin and a bit on the cheap side. But, I still don't see it being pulled off by a vinyl-like spray on coating.

Plasti dip does fade fast, but using its to mess around with your color and have a little fun. Why spend a bunch of money on a paint job you might not like when you can try it out first.

The portion you quoted barely makes any reference to your point.

It may sound like a real paint job, but:
It is much more cost effective,
It is a good medium to experiment with colors,
It is not permanent,
If you screw it up or don't like the color you can peel it off,
any ill effects you end up with are user error.

You are right, it's not permanent, if you want it to be, buy real paint.

My friend, you are in a thread about plastidip, please contribute or find something else to hate on. This is a community forum, not a bloodbath, the point is to contribute. Your goal appears to be to *****, complain and argue. Therefor you serve no purpose here.
